Christmas Day

Well, as it turns out Santa decided to come and visit our house. I guess Miss Boss and Captain Drools were on the nice list this year. This is a video of Miss Boss and Captain Drools looking at what Santa brought them. I was so shocked when Miss Boss turned the corner and asked me where Santa was. I guess I am not very good at explaining this whole Santa thing because she thought when I said Santa came to see you that Santa was actually in here living room to see her. She is so silly. She seemed like she didn't really know what to think about the whole thing though.

Santa sure did bring a lot of presents.

This is what Santa brought Miss Boss.

This is what Santa brought Captain Drools.

I guess I should have feed Captain Drools before we showed him his presents because he immediately found Miss Boss's baby bottle and tried VERY hard to get something out of it.

Here is Miss Boss on her brand new bike. It was the one thing that she wanted more than anything this year. She talked about a bike every day and how Santa was going to bring her one. She had a very hard time riding the bike and later in the day she asked me if "Santa could bring me another bike because this one is broken." I could not quit laughing. I quickly told her that she had to practice and she would be able to work the pedals very soon. As for the helmet she has worn it all over the house. She loves it. She even asked me if she could wear it out shopping.

Christmas Part 2

We were sad this year that Jason's mom and stepdad where not able to come stay for Christmas. On Thanksgiving they brought all of the presents down and put them under our tree. We had been looking at them for quite sometime and Miss Boss couldn't stand having all these presents that she couldn't open so on Tuesday night we said she could open one and one led to another and before we knew it we had opened everything.

Miss Boss and Captain Drools playing with Daddy.

On Christmas Eve we went to my cousins house where we spent time with my mom's side of the family. I have been spending Christmas Eve with my mom's family my whole life. I love seeing everyone. We normally eat alot of food, play games, and exchange presents. It is so nice to visit with my cousins and aunts and uncles. I wish I got to see them more often. After we left my cousins house we headed over to my parents house to exchange presents with my parents and siblings. As you can see in the picture below there were sooooo many presents. Miss Boss loved it and had a very hard time containing herself.

We have tried for quite sometime to get a good picture of all three of them....Captain Drools, Miss Boss and The Spit Up King......but I have all but given up because they never cooperate. Captain Drools kept escaping so Miss Boss had to hold onto him very tightly. She takes her job very serious.
For part of my parents Christmas present we all got together and got my Auntie Monica to take our picture. She did a great job and my mom even cried at the picture. It is the only one we have of all of us together when we are actually trying to look nice. We normally make faces in her pictures and pose very weird just to drive her crazy....well, I don't, but there are other in my family , who will remain nameless that do this in every picture.....So it was a really nice suprise for mom and dad.

Christmas Part 1.

On Sunday the 21st, I asked my neices to come and spend the night. I love having them over and Miss Boss does too. They all play together so well. This was Miss Boss's first slumber party and she was SO EXCITED. We started the night out making homemade pizzas. After they ate dinner and played for a while I gave them a choice to sleep in Layla's bed or make a pallet on the floor in the living room. (I already knew what they were going to pick.) We watched Elf and Polar Express and ate popcorn. The girls fell asleep before the end of the second movie. The next morning I made muffins (and pancakes for Jason). Courtney had to go to cheerleading so we took Miss Boss and Maggie to one of those jumpy places and McDonald's. Miss Boss had a wonderful time and has asked me many time in the last week to "do it again".

On Monday night we got together with my dad's side of the family and exchanged presents. We decided to only buy for the kids in the family. I really enjoyed buying for my aunt who is expecting in June after many years of trying. I am so excited about that, but that is a different blog for a different day. For some reason I only took pictures of my children and no one else. Sorry guys. Here is a picture of Miss Boss opening a present from Auntie Monica and Uncle Andy. She was all about the presents this year.
Here is my sweet little boy playing with a bath toy while his Mimi holds him.

This the only picture I got of me and the kids during all of Christmas. I really need to be better about taking pictures of myself. Jason doesn't know how to work a camera so I never get in any of the shots.

Miss Boss got a UGA outfit from Aunt Monica and we tried it on the next day. (Which was very hard for me since I am a Tech Fan). She also made this adorable scarf.
Also........when you tell Miss Boss to smile for the camera this is what you get. She is so goofy.

Making Christmas Cookies

Every Friday the girls in my family get together. We normally go shopping and out to lunch. We decided since it was close to Christmas we would turn our normal Friday meeting into a Christmas cookie party. Miss Boss really loves making anything. She is always saying to me "Let's make something Mommy." We had so much fun we decided to make a new family tradition.

Captain Drools and The Spit Up King (my brother's son) don't really enjoy making cookies so they decided to play with Pappy instead.

Here is a little video of Captain Drools beating up on The Spit Up King. They truely love each other and I am so excited to watch them grow up together. They are only 4 month apart. Sorry the camera work is quite shaky.

Breakfast with Santa

I love working at a preschool. When my class does fun things I get to bring my kids along to join in the fun. On Thursday, my class at school had breakfast with Santa. Miss Boss was very excited about seeing Santa. Captain Drools still has no idea what what is going on. We had gone to see Santa at the mall earlier in the week and she was to shy to talk to him. (I know it is really hard to imagine that Jason and I had a shy child.) I had to tell Santa at the mall what she wanted....a bike and a babydoll Miss Boss can feed....while she shook her head in agreement. On the way to breakfast with Santa I was asking Miss Boss if she was excited to see Santa again and she told me "I gonna talk to him." Poor girl didn't. She froze. It reminds me of the movie "A Christmas Story" where all the little boy wants is a red ryder bb gun. He goes and sees Santa and just stares at him and shakes his head yes when Santa asks him if he wants a football. That is exactly how Miss Boss is with Santa. After seeing Santa she did really enjoy eating a bunch of donuts. Yum. Yum.

A Christmas Parade

The wonderful little town we live in decided they were going to have a Christmas parade this year. Anyone who knows we well knows that I LOVE parades. I am not really sure what exactly I like about parades, but I love them none the less. Well, on with the story. I had been excited about going to see the parade all day. The letter I got in the mail said it was to start at 5:30. I bundled everyone up and forced my husband (who hated parades) to get going. We arrived about 5:15, in the freezing cold, to see the parade. We sat outside till about 6 when the parade finally started. I was so excited about seeing it and Miss Boss and I were talking about itthe whole time we waited. Santa was supposed to be there and everything. And then it happened. The parade that we waited outside for 45 minutes in the freezing cold started and ended in all of 5 minutes. There was a float, a fire truck, about 4 girl scout troops and then Santa. And let me tell you how disappointed I was in Santa. He was a fake. Not even a real beard I was so mad. This is the first year that Miss Boss really understands the whole Santa or at least I thought. When Santa went by she turned to me and said "Where's my bike." I then had to explain to her that Santa doesn't come to her house until Christmas and I thought I had done a pretty good job explaining myself until the next day when she told my mom the "Santa not bringing me a bike." Poor baby girl. I don't ever remember this being so very confusing.

Here is Captain Drools waiting on the 5 minute parade.

Miss Boss and me trying to keep warm and waiting for the parade to start.

The Nutcracker

My sister is the office manager of a local dance studio and she invited Miss Boss and I

to go to the dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker. I was really nervous about how Miss Boss was going to act during the performance because sitting still for a ballet can be hard for a grown up not to mention a 2 year old. We went and picked Aunt Ruthie up and went to eat pizza and then we went see the ballet. Miss Boss didn't move a muscle through the whole show. She LOVED it and I was suprised at how well she did. She actually kept telling Ruthie and me you have to be quiet to see the ballerinas. I guess we were talking to much. We have decided to make it a tradition every year. Also, I am going to try and take her to some different types of shows to see if she would like them.

Captain Drools is 9 months old!

On Monday my sweet baby turned 9 months old. He is growing up way to fast for me. I took him to the doctor today for his 9 month checkup and he is 30 inches long and 22.5 pounds. What a big boy. The last couple of weeks though I have noticed he is starting to get into this mama stage. Miss Boss was never much of a mama's girl until recently so this is all new for me. I went out the dinner with my friend Stephanie on Tuesday and when I got home Jason was rocking Captain Drools. I walked by to go to the bathroom and he saw me and he lost it. He was crying like his heart was broken because I didn't get him. This is all new to me. Miss Boss never wanted to be held. She want to be put down. She didn't like to be rocked. She wanted me to just lay her in the bed. If I lay Captain Drools in his bed he screams and screams. It is so weird to me how very different they are, but I love them just the same.

Giving Thanks

The last several weeks I have been complaining to God and everyone else that my house is too small. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my house. I love just about everything about it except we are growing out of it so fast. It feels like we are surrounded by tons of toys and clothes. It seems like they are everywhere. I was sitting in church Sunday when Mike (My pastor) start his sermon about being thankful. It really hit me while he was talking that I am complaining about not having enough space to put all of my stuff. Can you believe that? I have always tried to have a thankful heart and to be content in whatever situation I find myself in. With everything going on in this world I need to be thankful that I have a warm home to sleep in, food to eat, a job to go to that I love, health, wonderful friends, and most impotantly a wonderful family that I get to wake up to every morning and go home to a night. Happy Thanksgiving.

The Many Faces of Miss Boss

Lately Miss Boss has been giving my some pretty funny faces. Here are a few examples......

This is a picture of her rolling her eyes at me. Can you believe that she is already doing that.

This is Miss Boss's mean face. This face normally shows up when she says "don't do that mommy".....which normally is followed by her getting in trouble and me trying not to laugh.

And this is just her sweet little face. I love everything about her. How in the world could you not?

Cooking Dinner

It has been a challenge since Captain Drools has become so mobile to get anything done around the house. I am always dragging him away from a cord he wants to eat or the fireplace he wants to pull up on. It has been difficult. When Miss Boss was little I would lay a blanket on the floor and put her in the middle and surround her with toy and she wouldn't move off the blanket. She would just sit there all day if I wanted her too. I guess that is the biggest difference between the 2 so far. Here are some pictures of Captain Drools playing with the pots and spoons while I cook supper.

Miss Boss's Painting

I started painting several years ago. I love to paint. When Captain Drools was born I had to give up the room I painted in. This weekend I decided to clear out a space in the bedroom to paint. I quietly slipped away and locked the door hoping Miss Boss would not come looking for me. (I know...I know...did I really think she wouldn't notice I was gone.) Well, about a minute into painting I hear a knock on my door and then a bang with a "Mommy, Mommy, I can't get the door open". I walked to the door and Miss Boss said "You not want me in your room Mommy." I decided to let her in then and when she saw I was painting it was all over. So, I got a canvas out and let her paint a picture. She actually did a really good job.

Here she is holding her picture.

I loved it so much that I hung it on the living room wall. She was so proud to see it up there.

Captain Drools learns how to jump!

Captain Drools is changing so much. He is now 8 months old. He is crawling and about to start pulling up. Here is a video I took a couple of weeks ago of Captain Drools jumping in his Johnny Jumper.

Curious George and The Man with the Yellow Hat

This year on Halloween we went to the Hallelujah carnival at the church. This year is the first year that Miss Boss was really able to participate in most of the activities. She was very quiet and serious about the night. She loved being a monkey.

The man with the yallow hat.

George and the man with the yellow hat.

Captain Drools loved to watch all of the people walk by. He enjoyed sitting and watching all the excitement going on.

The Three of Them

While we were at the church we got to see our cousin. We love him so very much. I love that Trey and Captain Drools are so close in age.

Miss Boss loves holding baby Trey, but he is not always so patient. She doesn't care though.

Stopping to Smell the Flowers!

Layla has lately decided that she is not going to nap anymore. I am luck if I get her to take a nap a week. Yesterday she told me she was too hot to sleep. Today while Tanner was taking a nap I decided to pick the last of my hydrangeas before the frost kills them. While I was outside Layla asked for one and I took some pictures of her playing outside with her flower.

Captain Drools' New Skill

In order to show you how much Captain Drools is really starting to get into everything I took a video of his newest skill. He is so very funny.

The Pumpkin Patch

Jason and I decided to take the little ones to a local pumpkin patch this morning. Well, I don't think they grow pumpkins there, but who knows. We didn't want to go anywhere far away r crowded. I think we are like old people, but that is a different blog for a different day. We walked around took some pictures and picked out a pumpkin. Miss Boss had a great time and Captain Drools did too. We picked a pumpkin out and we will be carving it in the coming week.

Here are a couple of pics from our morning.

I made Miss Boss sit next to her brother and she wasn't happy. She didn't want to get her picture made. It is so hard to get a good picture of the 2 of them.

She is already embarrassed by her family.
I just thought this picture was funny.

Tanner is looking at his daddy. What a cutie pie!!!!
